Peter Klaus Schauer

Peter K. Schauer, 81 of Chicago, Illinois passed away unexpectedly on July 22, 2022, in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

Peter was born on July 16th, 1941, to the late Edlef and Charlotte (Ballerman) Schauer in Munich Germany. Stationed in Orleans, France Peter served in the US Army for 3 years. It was there where he met and married Marie-Claude Vilette on April 2nd, 1966.

Peter was the founder (1971) of non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) Orion Marine Corp, and retired managing partner of ConFlo Lines (2017).  Peter was a member of the Geneva Lakes Water Conservancy.  Athletic and energetic Peter loved to ski and recreate in and near water.  He loved classical music and especially loved to travel the world with Marie-Claude by his side. They were an inseparable pair. 

Peter is survived by his devoted wife, Marie-Claude, of 56 years.  Two children: Sophie (James) Eldred of Oak Park, Illinois, and Marc (Laura Linney) Schauer of Brooklyn, New York:  three grandchildren Graham James Eldred, Margot Charlotte Eldred, and Bennett Armistead Schauer: and one sister, Baerbel (Peter) Carste of Munich Germany all survive Peter.  Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Edlef and Charlotte.

A celebration of Peter's life will be held on Friday August 5th, 2022, at the University of Chicago Club at 2:00pm.
