Pamela Chambers Obituary

On February 16, 2022, the membership and staff of Geneva National Resort mourned the loss of its exquisite matriarch, Pamela Chambers.  She and her husband, Garth, purchased the Lake Geneva, Wisconsin golf resort in 1996, and made this exceptional community their home and passion for the rest of their lives.

Pamela was born in Corvallis, Oregon in 1955 and lived in France as a child before relocating to Las Vegas, NV, where she attended Western High School.  Gifted with an unrelenting work ethic, knack for numbers, and penchant for golf, Pamela rose from real estate agent to membership marketing and club management for various golf resorts in Las Vegas. In 1988, she assumed the role of Vice President of Marketing for Dove Canyon in Orange County, CA, where she met the resort’s owner and founder Garth Chambers.  The two were married seven years later.  Together, “Chambers & Chambers” acquired and resurrected three ailing golf resorts in Oregon and New York and developed Dove Canyon in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA and Cimarron Hills in Georgetown, TX.

Yet with all these successes, their proudest moments were those treasured with friends and family, who were foremost in their hearts.  An active part of the GN Member’s Club, Pamela was a staple on the course or the Clubhouse balcony surrounded by dear friends. She loved to travel, cook, and entertain – and poured herself into planning the most festive Christmas celebrations for the kids and grandkids. Quiet moments walking the dog with Garth, babysitting, visiting her sister, or maintaining her Word Chums winning streak were also cherished pastimes – as well as sharing grandkid photos with friends and staff.

For 10 years, Pamela was dedicated to her leadership role of the Geneva National Foundation (GNF) which to date has distributed more than $2.5 million in grants to Walworth County neighbors with special needs.  Inspired by compassion, Pamela was honored to support such institutions as Inspiration Ministries, Studio 84, and Lakeland School, which aquatic center is named for the Foundation. Pamela accepted Visit Lake Geneva’s 2017 Community Betterment Impact Award in recognition of GNF’s significant contribution to the area’s quality of life.

Pamela was the quintessential lady: thoughtful, gracious, and wise. When she spoke with you, she was engaged, present and listening. She was respected as a fiercely loyal and devoted partner to Garth. To all who knew her, she was a true friend. So humble was she, that many didn’t realize Pamela was GN’s owner as she didn’t flaunt that fact among staff and members. She was diligent, hard-working, and sensible (except perhaps when it came to her shoes). She will be cherished in countless hearts for her unbridled generosity and devotion of time, treasure, and talent.

A testimony to the power of love, Pamela was preceded eight months in death by Garth, her adoring husband of 26 years. Her charming spirit is carried on by her daughter, Mandi, son-in-law Gordie, and grandson Camden; sister, Cindy; stepson Garth and wife, Katherine, and grandsons Tripp and Cade; stepdaughter Elyse and husband, Andrew, and granddaughters Faye and Nell; and stepson Blake and wife Lindsay. And a polar lab named Buster. (She would not want us to forget him.) Knowing and loving each one of them was the success story of her life.

In Pamela’s memory, donations may be made to the Geneva National Foundation, 1221 Geneva National Avenue South, Lake Geneva, WI 53147.

A joint service for Pamela and Garth will be announced this spring.
