Nannette C Yakes, 83, of Lake Geneva passed away peacefully on October 30th, 2023, surrounded by her family at Lakeland Medical Center.
Nannette was born February 15th, 1940, in Elkhorn Wisconsin to the late Roy and Maude (Helnore) Grice. She was the youngest of ten children. Nannette graduated from Elkhorn High School in 1958. On April 30th, 1962, Nannette was united into marriage to her “ever loving” David R Yakes at Como Community Church.
Nannette loved to read, listen to the radio, do word searches, and go shopping. Most of which were enjoyed even more with her kitty “Two Stroke” snuggling on her lap. She loved her favorite perfume, “Charlie,” as well as getting rollers in her beautiful white hair. She absolutely loved babies, and everybody called her Grandma, or Grammy. Nannette loved many things, but the love and devotion she had for her husband David, her sons, and grandchildren was unwavering until the end.
Nannette is preceded in death by her infant son Daniel, her parents Roy and Maude (Helnore) Grice, siblings Honore, Marietta, Diana, Thorval, Stewart, Clifford, Laurel, Martin, and a beloved cat, Piwickett.
Nannette is survived by her husband of 61 years David R Yakes. Three children, David S (Jewel) Yakes, Derk Yakes, and Dan (Shaune) Yakes. Grandchildren, Melissa (Justin) Kasten, Cierra Yakes, Hayden (Tori) Yakes, Kayla (Jacob) Lindberg, Sadie Yakes, Jamie Roth, and Sara Roth. One Great Grandchild, Rylan Kasten, and her sister Ivorine Brown, lovingly known as Starr.
