Lance Weldgen Sr. Obituary

We mourn the passing on Friday evening, October 15, 2021, of Lance William Weldgen, Sr., age 67, loving husband of Gerri and father of two grown biological children and three grown step children at his home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

Lance Weldgen, Sr. was born on October 8, 1954 to Raymond Morris Weldgen and Marion Louise Koons Weldgen in Bakersfield, California and grew up in Chico, California. He was the youngest of six children.  His brothers and sisters were Diana Carole Jacobs Round, Sharon Lynn Jacobs Borba, Michael Young Jacobs, Richard Dale Jacobs and Mary Elizabeth Weldgen Wildoner. He is now survived only by his sisters Diana and Sharon and numerous other relatives .

He met Barbara Kerek, his first wife and mother of his two children.  They were married in Chico, California.  Together, they raised Lance Weldgen, Jr. (married to Andreana; three children: Melody, Maple, and Luna) and Jennifer Hall (married to William Hall; one child: Lyzzie). They moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado so that both children could receive an education in their natural language (American Sign Language). He was remarried to Gerri Rhoades June 17, 2000, and this union lasted 21 years until his passing.  Gerri Rhoades had three children by a previous marriage.  They are Maxwell Snead (Wife, Julie with two children, Catie and Abby), Laura Snead (one child, Matthew), and Crystal Rhoades.

He received an AA in counseling but worked as a salesman for a few companies before he became sick with several illnesses. He was raised a Catholic as a child.  Not until his experience of miraculous healing under the ministry of Andrew Wommack, did he join that faith.  He then enrolled in Charis Bible College to become a missionary.  He and Gerri then served overseas with great success in both South India and Sri Lanka until his retirement.

With their retirement, he and his wife enjoyed life in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.  They especially enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and serving people through Celebration Recovery.  He would read scriptures and sing Christian songs to his grandchildren which was a favorite pastime. He often enjoyed his time in the Inspiration Coffee Shop where he would grab every opportunity to minister to others while enjoying his coffee. This was how he originally met the folks from Charis Bible College and received his miraculous healing.  He always reminded people to speak about the Christian life and celebrate their life.

With the victory over the rough childhood he had, a recovered alcoholic for 39 years and at least two near-death experiences and illnesses in the past 12 years, Lance William Weldgen, Sr. was a great soldier in the Armies of Heaven.  We know he is still proudly serving his mighty and glorious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The celebration of life service to celebrating the life of Lance Weldgen will be at Mt. Zion Community Church (Lake Geneva) on October 21st, 2021 at 9:30 am.
