Kathy was a beloved mother and grandmother, a favorite aunt, and a treasured friend. Born in 1947, Kathy grew up on Pewaukee Lake, lived in Lake Geneva for almost 50 years, and spent her summers on Crystal Lake in northern Michigan. Kathy was happiest when she was on the water, particularly when in a sailboat. She was a terrific cook who loved to entertain and could put Martha Stewart to shame when she decorated a table or wrapped a gift. Kathy delighted in her gardens, which she faithfully tended to season after season. She had a knack for leaving spaces prettier than she found them. Kathy was adventuresome and always game to try something new, from mahjong to skippering a Woodpussy. Kathy was also a problem-solver who prior to her retirement worked in customer support and logistics for TSR and Arrow Products.
Kathy was a trusted confidant for many and an endless source of support for those whom she loved. She was predeceased by her husband, Kevin. Kathy gave her heart to Kevin at the age of 21 and never reclaimed it. She will be greatly missed by her children, Sarah and Dalton Waldeck; her children-in-law, Paul Olszowka and Stacey Finnegan; her granddaughters Peyton, Phoebe, and Mary Olszowka; her brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Sharon Schultz; her cousin-in-law Susan Schultz; as well as by her nieces (both of whom were her favorites), nephews and many friends.
In accord with Kathy’s wishes, a simple burial mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales Church in Lake Geneva at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 17. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please contribute in Kathy’s memory to the Crystal Lake and Watershed Association, P.O. Box 89, Beulah, Michigan, 49617. Derrick Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the Waldeck family. To sign the on line guest registry click Guest Book.
