James Larsen Obituary

James D. Larsen, 80, of Racine, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday May 18th, 2023 at Ridgewood Care Center in Racine.

Jim was born on Easter Sunday, April 25th, 1943, in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.   Jim was the son of the late Harold and Mardelle (Lenon) Larsen.  Jim attended St. Francis de Sales grade school from 4th through 8th grade where he moved up with a new class and the same Nun each year.  Jim moved on to Badger High School where he was an active golf, track, wrestling, and was an all-conference football player in 1961.  Jim went on to Whitewater and graduated in 1966 with a BBA (business) degree.  On June 24th, 1976, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada Jim was united in marriage to the former Barbara Wild.

After college Jim ran a school bus line in Delevan, Wisconsin.  When he was down with that he got licensed in insurance and obtained a Series 7 Securities License.  This allowed him to sell life insurance, securities, which include stocks, bonds, mutual funds, pensions and profit sharing plans and limited partnerships.  Jim also had a real-estate brokers license.  Jim loved his work but loved his wife and children even more.

Jim is survived by his wife Barbara of 46 years.  Two children: Ryan (Mary) Larsen of Wadsworth, Illinois and Sara Larsen of Madison, Wisconsin and two grandson's Riley and Mason Larsen all survive Jim.  Two sisters: Gail (Jack) Nichols and Jo (Dennis) Von Pons and three brothers:: Tom Larsen, John Larsen, and Rex Larsen also survive Jim.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters , Connie Bartuch and Eileen Larsen.

A gathering of friends to celebrate Jim's life will be held Friday May 26th, 2023 from 4:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. in the main chapel of Derick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are requested in Jim's name to Ridgewood Care Center ( Attention Jennifer Heesth) in Racine or to Hospice Alliance.
