Hannelore "Hanni" Boston, age 91, passed away on October 26, 2023, in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. She was born on November 7, 1931, in Germany.
Hanni, known to everyone as an extremely outgoing, compassionate, understanding, and loving person, will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her home was always filled with laughter and music, as she had an open heart and an open home. She met her husband, Frank "Frannie" Boston, while he was a soldier stationed outside her village in Germany at the conclusion of World War II. They fell in love, and at the age of sixteen, she left the hardships of Germany and came to Evanston, Illinois, where she married Frank. They lived with his parents before moving to Johnsburg, Illinois. They had two children Jim and Tom. Eventually, they purchased a home in Mount Prospect, Illinois, where they built a life surrounded by wonderful friends and relatives.
Hanni was an incredible party planner and host, always making sure celebrations and gatherings were filled with joy. Her passionate and beautiful singing voice could always be heard above the crowd. She also had a love for nature and the outdoors, welcoming family and friends to their second homes in Portage and Lake Redstone, Wisconsin. Hanni's yard was a testament to her love of flowers and gardening, always blooming with the most beautiful blossoms.
Hanni is survived by her loving sons, James W. Boston and Thomas P. Boston, along with their respective spouses, Rebecca and Debra. She was also a cherished grandmother to Jenni and Mark Heffernan, Jim and Christina Boston, Taylor,Jenny-Flore, Peyton, Farica, Lynsmy Boston, Thomas F. Boston, Cherie and Scott Myers, Shaun and Erica Boston, Justin and Julie Boston, and Chadwick Boston. Hanni was blessed with great-grandchildren: Brynley and Emery Heffernan, Melanie and Matthew Myers, Michael and Elena Boston, Chadwick and Charles Boston, Justin Boston Jr, and Jessica Guzman. She was also a great-great-grandmother to Theo and Amelia Guzman. Hanni was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Boston, and her parents, Paula and Gustav Mueller. Frank passed away on the same date October 26th twenty-six years earlier.
Hanni had a successful career in the food service industry, where she showcased her passion for culinary arts and hospitality. She dedicated her time and energy to providing excellent service to those she served.
Hanni worshipped at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, where she found solace and community.
In her free time, Hanni enjoyed boating, gardening, being in nature, singing, music, playing Bingo, and hosting parties and family gatherings. Her zest for life was contagious, and she always made sure everyone around her had a great time. She had a love of baking and cooking fabulous home cooked meals,
A life celebration will be held in the spring to honor Hanni's remarkable life. Notifications will be sent to family and friends with further details.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Hanni's memory to New Life Global Ministry, Inc., dedicated to the care of impoverished children in the country of Haiti. Hanni's infectious spirit and loving nature will forever be remembered and cherished by her family and friends. She was with her savior at the end. May she rest in eternal peace.
