Grace Rosemary (Miller) Rolfson

On Monday, July 25, 2022, Grace Rosemary Rolfson, found peace surrounded by her two daughters following a brave, years-long battle with Huntington’s disease.

Grace was born on September 9th, 1945, in Milwaukee Wi, to Julia and Joseph Miller. She was a devoted mother to her daughters Shelly Johnston and Holly (Doug) Johnson. Her grandchildren were the light of her life: Abby (Andrew) Haapakoski, Billy Wehrhahn, Christian Johnston, and Camryn Johnston. Grace was preceded in death by her siblings: Leroy Miller, Delores Campos, Marlene Hughes, Shirley Uttke, and Gerry Lewandowski.

Known to her friends and family as Gracie, she had a heart of gold and was always caring for others. She may have been a small woman, however, when she set out to do something, she could move mountains. She was known to open her home to those in need, whether it was one of her children's friends or someone she met at work; holidays often included those with no other place to go. She was always available to lend words of advice or support others that needed a hug. She was known for her hugs and loved to give them. She loved fiercely, fought fearlessly for what was right, and gave all she could to those she loved. There are many laughs and memories to be cherished by friends and family.

Grace was employed with the U.S. Post Office in East Troy, Mukwonago, and retired from the Lake Geneva Post Office. When her daughters were little, she worked part-time at Giles in East Troy, McAdams Shop-Rite in Mukwonago, and was a proud volunteer EMT for the Mukwonago Fire and Rescue Squad.

A lesson to be taken from Gracie is to learn to accept what life deals you with dignity and perseverance. When life gave her lemons, she often said, “It is what it is” and kept pushing forward regardless.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Thursday August 11, 2022 from 5:00pm till 7:00pm in the main chapel of Derrick Funeral Home.
