Garth Chambers Sr. Obituary

Garth Chambers Sr., 76, of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin passed away unexpectedly at Northwestern Hospital in Illinois.

Garth was born on March 1st, 1945, to the late Edwin and Ada (Landquist) Chambers in Sacramento, California.  Garth attends the University of the Pacific after graduating high school.  On June 24th, 1995, Garth was united into marriage to Pamela.

When Garth and his wife, Pamela, purchased Geneva National Golf Club 25 years ago, they were captivated by the courses and views. Little did he know it would be the people here who would win his heart.  While Garth had built several upscale golf resort communities in California, Texas, Oregon, and New York, he chose to plant roots in Wisconsin, for here is where he was purely happy.

Geneva National Resort is known for its golf architects, but it was Garth, standing a lean 6’ 6”, who was the Club’s true icon.  A seasoned visionary and man of character, he led with wisdom and strength.  He didn’t require admiration or loyalty, but he earned it, nonetheless.  Undoubtedly, his presence will be greatly missed, yet we will continue to see treasured glimpses in a thriving Club that he brilliantly led for a quarter-century and a family that will continue his legacy, stewarding this very special place that he called home.

Garth is survived by Pamela, his wife of 26 years.  Four children: Garth (K.C.) Chambers II of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; Elyse (Andrew Wright) Chambers of Napa, California; Blake (Lindsay) Chambers of Houston, Texas; Amanda (Gordon Woollacott) Smith of England all survive Garth. Five grandchildren Tripp and Cade Chambers; Faye Wright, Nell Wright and Camden Woollacott all survive Garth.

A celebration of Garth’s life will be held in the future.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Garth's memory to support the CAR T-Cell Therapy Program through the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.  A link on how to donate is below.
