Clifford William Block

Clifford W. Block, 82, formerly of the Woodstock, Illinois area, most recently from Lyons, Wisconsin passed away peacefully at his home surround by loves ones, on Monday January 21, 2019.

Born Clifford William Block on February 15th, 1936 to the late Lester William and Myrtle Mae (Hoskin) Block in Roseau, Minnesota. On December 23rd, 1956 Clifford was united into marriage to Patricia Irene Brist.

Clifford was a man that loved his family dearly. He was known for his big smiles and bear hugs, which he also shared with friends. He could talk to almost anyone, as though he knew them forever.

Clifford had many passions, but his favorite was to tinker with old tractors and cars. Being that Clifford was a retired ironworker, he would enjoy watching the progress on any construction site.

Clifford was a faithful servant of God, and served as a deacon for the First Baptist Church of McHenry for 27 years.

Clifford is survived by his wife of 63 years Patricia. 2 children: LuAnn (Terry) Smith of Lake Geneva and Leslie (Eric) Swanson of Roseau, Minnesota and a foster child: Michael (Lorraine) Merrill of Grayslake, Illinois. He was blessed with 8 grandchildren: Brandi (Paul) Feher, Catlin Block, Joshua (Kathryn) Smith, Adam (Stephanie) Smith, Brittney Swanson, Eric Swanson, William Swanson, and Megan Swanson along with 9 great-grandchildren all of whom survive Clifford. And a sister Janice (Tommy) Jacobson of Roseau, Minnesota.

Clifford was preceded in death by a son Patrick Michael Block, a grandson Tim Swanson, great- grandchild Migizi Marie White, a brother Gordon Block, and a sister Eleanor Nelson.

Services for Clifford will be held on Saturday January 26th, 2019 at 1:00pm at the First Baptist Church of McHenry; Pastor Raquel will be presiding. Visitation will be held from 11:30pm till the time of service in the church.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family has asked that you make a donation to the FirstBaptist Church in Clifford’s name.
