Wilma M. Jacobson, 86, a lifelong resident of Lake Geneva, WI, died Monday March 25, 2013 at Saint Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. The former Wilma Mae Habecker was born in Lake Geneva, WI on May 20, 1926 the daughter of the late Clarke B. and Edna P. (Miller) Habecker. She graduated from Lake Geneva High School in 1944; she then attended Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL studying drama. On September 10, 1949 in Lake Geneva she was united in marriage to John A. Bailey; he preceded her in death on January 21, 1964. On November 29, 1965 she was married to Gordon “Butch” Jacobson.
Wilma was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lake Geneva, was a member of the church council and was active on many church committees. She worked with the Lake Geneva Food Pantry for many years. She worked at the polls in Lake Geneva for many years; she was also active with the Red Cross working with the blood drive in Lake Geneva. She was a former board member for the Lake Geneva YMCA. She was a former member of the Eastern Star and the Lake Geneva Women’s Club. She loved playing golf, especially at the former Hillmoor Country Club. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to several bridge clubs.
She is survived by: Gordon “Butch” Jacobson her husband of 47 years, 2 children; Linda (David) Bailey Boilini of Lake Geneva, WI and John “Ike” Bailey of Delavan, WI, a grandson Joseph Boilini of Lake Geneva, a sister Betty H. Ely of The Villages, FL and many fond family members and many special friends. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Johnna Boilini.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday April 3, 2013 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lake Geneva; Reverend Charlene Hinckley will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Geneva. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Derrick Funeral Home, 800 Park Dr. Lake Geneva and after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in church. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are requested in Wilma’s name to the First Congregational U.C.C. in Lake Geneva.
