William D. Naftzger

William D. Naftzger, 73, of The Meadows, Sarasota, FL, passed away Thursday August, 16, 2012 while vacationing in Wisconsin.  William David Naftzger was born in Kokomo, IN on
November 10, 1938 the son of the late William and Alma (Frese) Naftzger.  He graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka, IL and then from DePauw University in Greencastle, IN.  He proudly served in the United States Air Force.  On September 27, 1980 in Winnetka, IL he was united in marriage to the former Margaret Host.  He had a successful career in banking, first at the Harris Bank, and then the Northern Trust, both in Chicago, IL.  He enjoyed golf, cooking and telling a good joke.
Bill is survived by: Peggy his wife of 31 years, 3 children; Steven (Diane) Naftzger, Susan (Bruce) Leinbach, David (Katie) Naftzger, 3 step-children; Tracy (Tom) Schumacher, Michael (Susan) Dieck and Cathy (Carl) Lundquist, 11 grandchildren, 2 sisters; Elizabeth (William) Coleman, Barbara (Gordon) Tapley and a brother Walter (Colleen) Naftzger.
Memorial Services will be held on Sunday August 26, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.  at Community Christian Church, 1970 Riverwoods Rd., Lincolnshire, IL 60069.  A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date in Sarasota, FL.  In lieu of other expressions of sympathy please consider a donation in Bill’s name to the Salvation Army or to a charity of your choice.
