William D. Harris Sr., 70, of the Bloomfield, Wisconsin area passed away surrounded by friends and family on August 31, 2024, at Lakeland Medical Center.
William was born on December 4th, 1953, to the late Louis and Lucille (Porter) Harris in Chicago, Illinois. William was a member of the graduating class of 1972 from George Washington Carver High School. On January 18t, 1974, the Cook County Court House, William was united into marriage to the love of his life, Martha.
There is no easy way to describe Will. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a friend, a mentor, and a guiding light within his community. Will always had a smile, a handshake, and a hug for everyone. He loved the Bears and was technology junkie and a gamer at heart. Will was involved in his church, Chapel on the Hill, the Food Pantry, and participated in many plays. When Will felt the need to mentor and help more, he was always there to volunteer at the men’s shelter. With Martha by his side there was nothing that could not be done. William will always be missed, and the hole left in everyone’s heart will never heal knowing that he is gone.
William is survived by his wife of 50 years, Martha. William will be survived by his five children: Jamahl (Shenita) Mumford, LaSasha (Pedro) Harvey, Khamel (Nichole) Mumford, NaQuisha (Alonzo) Mann, and William Harris Jr. Eight grandchildren: Jamal Jr., Deshone, Sherif, Edward, Antonio, Trinitee, Alonzo Jr. and Malachi; along with three great-grandchildren; Aleigha, Clifford III, and Keyon all survive their grandpa. William was proceeded in death by one grandchild: Clifford, a daughter Taahira Iikov, and his parents Louis and Lucille.
