Timothy Joseph Dunn, a life-long beloved figure in the Lake Geneva community, was born on May 29, 1948, in the picturesque surroundings of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. He departed this world on October 28, 2025, in Mt. Pleasant, Wisconsin, surrounded by the warmth and love of family and friends.
Timothy dedicated his professional life to helping run the family business, Dunn Lumber and True Value Hardware, where he infused every interaction with kindness and compassion. In his early summers, he shared his knowledge of the area with visitors as Captain of The Fontana.
Education was an important aspect of Timothy's life, graduating from Badger High School in 1966 and then attending college. His thirst for knowledge never waned; he was often regarded as a walking encyclopedia, generously sharing his expansive knowledge with those fortunate enough to be in his company.
Timothy was not only an accomplished businessman and scholar but also a person of deep character. His personality was defined by kindness, compassion, thoughtfulness, and a commitment to service to those around him. He had a big heart and his door was always open and his ear there to listen. He helped people and was such a blessing, touching many lives.
Timothy dedicated countless hours at the Mt. Zion House, served as a docent at the Geneva Lakes Museum, and served as an Alderman for the 3rd District. He loved children, and enjoyed giving gifts and treats and taking them special places.
Tim also loved to travel. He ventured off to Egypt, the UK, and kayaked the wilds of Alaska in his early days, and continued his love for travel later in life by frequenting Door County with his wife Carolyn and taking daily drives around the Lake Geneva area, cherishing the natural splendor that surrounded him.
Timothy is lovingly remembered by his four stepchildren: Jennifer (Joel) Kimball, Katie (Patrick) McIntosh, James Kelby, and Joe Novak, who carry forward his spirit of generosity and love. He is also survived by two brothers, Terry (Natalie) Dunn and Mike (Tammy) Dunn and their families whom Tim loved dearly. He joins his loved ones who preceded him in death, including his beloved wife Carolyn Dunn, his step- daughter Christine Novak, his parents Edward and Virginia Dunn, and his sister Mary Kathleen Dunn. Their legacy continues through the hearts of those who remain, forever touched by Timothy's gentle spirit.
A visitation will be held on November 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mt Zion Christian Church located at 2330 WI-120, Lake Geneva, WI 53147. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at the same location from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM, culminating with additional gatherings to honor his life until 4:00 PM.
As we reflect on the life of Timothy Joseph Dunn, we remember a man whose compassion and love knew no bounds. His legacy of kindness, service, and an adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Words cannot express how much he was loved and dearly he will be missed...
