Thomas John Welsh Sr.

Thomas J. Welsh Sr, 64, of Lake Geneva, passed away surrounded by his loving family at Sage Meadows Assisted Living on August 22, 2020.

Born Thomas John Welsh, to Thomas E. Welsh Jr. and the late Mary Elaine (Busse) Welsh on September 6th, 1955 in Evergreen Park, Illinois.

Tom is survived by his two children, Thomas J Welsh Jr. (Stephanie) and Margaret S. Welsh. He is also survived by his parents, Thomas and Paula Welsh, sisters Kathy (Mike) Nolan, Sharon (RJ Stone) Norris, brother Robert (Neva) Welsh and aunt Mary Kay (Dennis) Boyd. He loved his role as “Uncle Tom” to Michael (Eileen), Kelly (Patrick), Kaellen (Mario), Haley (Taylor), Kevin (Connie) and Emma (Joe). As new babies were born into the family, Tom was a gentle great uncle to Eleanor, Michael, Leo and Oliver. Tom was also loved by many caring cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Kate Welsh, Grandmother Margaret (John) Busse, Aunts and Uncles Shirley (Stan) Bajgot, Barbara (Jack) McLaughlin and Jacqueline Busse.

Tom wore many different hats in his short life: Dad, Uncle Tom, “Wally” to his college friends, compassionate Boss, and friend to everyone he met. His kindness was well known to all. Tom’s favorite hat was being a Dad. He loved spending time with his kids boating in Lake Geneva and enjoying summers at the cottage. From White Sox tailgates to the annual St. Patrick’s Day parties to holiday get-togethers lasting into the late evenings, Tom valued spending time with family.

The Welsh family would also like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Sage Meadows for the care they provided Tom and the entire family.

Visitation will be held from 12pm-2pm on Saturday, August 29, 2020.  Prayer service to follow.

In lieu of another expression of sympathy, the Welsh family has asked that you make a donation in Tom’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. A link has been provided below for your convenience.
