Susan Phillips (Braford) 1935 – 2025 Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

Susan Phillips, 89, passed away on March 6, 2025, in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Born on August 15, 1935, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Sue spent her early years in Wyoming, Michigan, and summers in Pentwater, Michigan, with her siblings.

Sue pursued a career in nursing, earning her degree from Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. In 1957, she married her high school sweetheart, John Phillips. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Sue brought warmth and kindness to everyone around her. She was a lifelong athlete—an avid tennis player and golfer—and an enthusiastic Green Bay Packers fan. She loved entertaining and spending time with friends and family, and her annual holiday "Pigs in a Blanket" party was a cherished tradition.

She is survived by her children: Beth Boehland (the late Charles), Pamela Griffith, James Phillips, and Karen Schmidt; her siblings: Nancy Warner, Bill Braford (Pat), and Sara Lerz (David); her grandchildren: Mark, Charles, Scott, Katie, Holly, and AJ; and her great-grandchildren: Lucy, Jack, JoJo, Charles, Ailie, Charlotte, Brooks, Tobias, and Gideon. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.

Sue was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Phillips; her dear companion, George Farnsworth; her granddaughter, Landis Lee Phillips; her parents, Edmond and Agnes Braford; her sister, Dawn Hubbard; and her brothers, Dave, Dick, Tom, Bob, and Jim Braford.

A service to honor Susan’s life will be held on May 27, 2025, at Linn Presbyterian Church in Lake Geneva (W3335 Willow Rd). Visitation begins at 11:00 AM; the service will be held at 12:00 PM. A reception will follow the service.
