Shirley B. Johnejack, 98, a longtime resident of Lake Geneva, died peacefully Thursday December 10, 2015 in Lake Geneva. The former Shirley Boyington was born in Rockford, IL on April 13, 1917 the daughter of the late Wayne and Hazel (Burton) Boyington. She graduated from Walworth High School in 1935 and then from Miss Brown’s School of business in Milwaukee. In 1940 she married Edward Schiche. She worked, for many years as an executive assistant for RCA in Chicago, IL in the recording studio where she hired and interacted with all the musicians, big band stars and radio actors and actresses. After WWII she and Ed moved to Lake Geneva where they began a family and were members of the original Lake Geneva Sailing Club. Ed preceded her in death in 1964. She worked for Wisconsin Southern Gas Company as an executive assistant in Lake Geneva for many years, retiring in 1983. She was a talented organist and played in various restaurants in Lake Geneva for many years and also taught organ. Shirley enjoyed volunteering at Lakeland Nursing Home playing organ to entertain the residents. In 1978 she was united in marriage to Emil Johnejack; he preceded her in death in 1982. Shirley is survived by: a daughter Sherry Goldsmith and a son Casey (Liane Muzzy) Schiche, 2 grandchildren; Scott Schmidt and Kelly McCarthy and 3 great-grandchildren; Katelyn and Connor McCarthy and A.J. Schmidt and 3 step-daughters; Mary Sue Swanson, Sally Ann Minicuci and Deborah Kathleen Ellis. . She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Melvin “Buck” Boyington and her longtime companion Forbes Giles. Graveside services for Shirley were held on Saturday December 12, 2015 in Oak Hill Cemetery. A Celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at a later date.
