Shirley M. (Baumeister) Mershon

Shirley M. Mershon, 77, of Burlington, WI, formerly of Lake Geneva, died Saturday May 7, 2016 at her home.  The former Shirley Mary Baumeister was born September 9, 1938 in Lyons Township, WI the daughter of the late LaVerne and Loretta (Raduenz) Baumeister.  She graduated from Saint Mary’s Catholic High School in Burlington in 1956.  In 1985 in West Allis, WI she was united in marriage to Richard Mershon; he preceded her in death on June 26, 2011.  She and Richard enjoyed time together traveling with their camping trailer.  She also enjoyed playing the organ and spent a lot of time knitting and crocheting.

Shirley is survived by: 3 children; Debra Newman Bertrand of Olathe, KS, Dawn (Bob) Newman Obenauf of Salem, WI and Duane Newman of Milwaukee, WI, 4 grandchildren; Kyle, Katie, Angie and Jenna, 2 great-grandchildren; Owen and Jake, by 4 sisters; Lucille (Stan) Albrecht, Vernetta Fabian, Darlene Park and Elaine Hullman and 2 brothers; Ken (Dee) Baumeister and John Baumeister. She was preceded in death by: her parents, a grandson Keith Obenauf, 4 sisters Ruth Malec, Judy Whalen, Sue Evans and Rita Mooney and 3 brothers; Bill, Lester and Tim Baumeister.  Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday June 4, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., at Saint Francis deSales Catholic Church; Father Jim Scheurman will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday, in church, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.  Inurnment will be in Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, WI.
