Ruth (Johnson) Fletcher

August 9, 1925 — April 10, 2014

Ruth Fletcher, 88 of the Rockford area, passed away peacefully at her home on April 10th, 2014.  The former Ruth Johnson was born on August 9th, 1925 to the late David and Frieda Johnson of Chicago, Illinois.  Ruth graduated from Fenger High School in Chicago in 1943.  Ruth then went on to receive an associate degree from Thornton Township Junior College in Harvey Illinois in 1965.  After Ruth received here degree she went to work as a bookkeeper for over 20 years.  Ruth was united in marriage to the late Roy Fletcher in 1943 in Chicago Illinois.  Ruth and Roy lived together in Chicago and the Riverdale area for 57 years.  After Roy passed Ruth relocated to Byron and then to Rockford Illinois.

Ruth is survived by her two sons; Greg (Jane) Fletcher of the McHenry and Lake Geneva area and by Scott (Linda) Fletcher of Byron, Illinois.  8 grandchildren survive Ruth; Kristen (Corey) Black of Libertyville, Ill, Kevin (Jennifer) Fletcher of Mundelein, Ill, Marsh (Jamelle) McCreary of Lake Zurich, Ill, Randi (Mark) Smith of Madison, WI. Stephanie Fletcher of Los Alamos, New Mexico, Mathew Fletcher of Byron, Ill., and Sarah Fletcher of Byron, Ill.  13 great-grandchildren also survive Ruth.  Her husband of 57 years Roy Fletcher and one grandson Michael Fletcher preceded Ruth in death.
