Ronald Charles Fibiger

Anyone who knew Lake Geneva resident Ronald C. Fibiger will remember his big smile and hearty laugh. It was his signature greeting and a memory never to be dimmed by his passing, at 88, on April 3, 2024.

Ronald was born in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Charles Fibiger and Mary Haddow, graduated from Proviso East High School and said “I do” to the love of his life, Lily Byron.

If you have ever enjoyed the light show in the United Airlines tunnel at O’Hare International Airport, you can thank Ron and his IBEW union local 134 brothers. He was in the electricians union for 70 years.

When Ronald wasn’t working he loved  spending time outdoors with his family whether it be planning wonderful camping trips, fishing, swimming, biking or spending time floating around in his boat.

A man who could strike up a conversation with just about anyone, Ronald Fibiger will be remembered for the love he shared and the generous person that he was.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lily, son Mathew Fibiger, daughter Julie (Sean) Duffy and many nieces and nephews.  He was proceeded in death by sons Brian and Jeffrey, and his brother Jim.

Services for Ronald will be on June 8th, 2024, at 11:30 in the main chapel of Derrick Funeral Home.  A gathering time for Friends and Family will be held after the service at Derrick Funeral Home from 12:00 on.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family has asked that you donate in Ronalds’s name to a charity of your choice.
