Robert "Big Rob" Child

Robert “Big Rob” Child, 56, of Lake Geneva, WI, died unexpectedly on Thursday February 11, 2016 at Centegra Hospital in McHenry, IL.  Robert Gordon Child was born in Libertyville, IL on March 5, 1959 the son of Ralph and Jeanne (Myers) Child.  He graduated Bonanza High School in Las Vegas, NV in 1977.  On June 5, 1982 he was united in marriage to the former Ursula Gniadek.  Rob was a big man with a big heart; he was a good friend and welcomed people into his life and his home.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle; his Harley and his kids were his life.

Rob is survived by: Ursula, his wife of 33 years, his mother Jeanne Child, 2 children; Alexia (Benjamin Ludtke) Child and Ryan Child,  3 brothers; Kevin Child, Jeffrey (Sue Ann) Child and Steven Child.  He was preceded in death by his father.

A Celebration of Rob’s life will be held on Thursday February 18, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at Austin’s Saloon and Eatery, 481 Peterson Rd., Libertyville, IL.  In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are requested for the benefit of his children.  Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva is honored to be assisting the Child family with arrangements.  To sign the on-line guest registry click guest book/condolences.
