Robert W. Opper, 71, of Lake Geneva, died Wednesday January 9, 2013 at Saint Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. Robert Walter Opper was born in Janesville, WI on December 14, 1941 the son of the late Walter and Mary (Mehltretter) Opper. On February 3, 1962 in Lake Geneva, WI he was united in marriage to the former Mary Ann Vanderhoof. Bob had run B & M Mower Service in Pell Lake for many years. He was a former firefighter and emergency medical technician with the Bloomfield Fire Department, serving for over 20 years.
Bob is survived by: Mary, his wife of almost 51 years, 4 children;
Ronald Opper of Lake Geneva, WI, Wendy Halpin of Toledo, OH, Tammy Opper of Whitewater, WI, and Zina (Brent Connelly) Opper of Lake Geneva, WI, 5 grandchildren; Chad Borowiec, Dustin Olson, Tania Opper, Sean Halpin and Laura Brenner, 1 great-grandson Caiden Halpin, a sister Maryann (James) Wells of Lake Geneva and a brother David Opper of Elkhorn, WI. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Walter and Richard.
A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Tuesday January 15, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Derrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services; Pastor Mark Moller-Gunderson of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until time of services. In lieu of other expressions memorials are requested to the Opper family.
