Robert James Flinn Sr.

Robert J. Flinn Sr., 85, a longtime resident of Lake Geneva, WI and formerly of Rockford, IL, died Tuesday January 21, 2014 at the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in Union Grove, WI.  Robert James Flinn was born in Chicago, IL on July 8, 1928 the son of the late Dr. Elmer and Leone (Bonamoni) Flinn.  He was a Veteran of the Korean War serving as a Corporal with the United States Army.  On June 20, 1953 in McHenry, IL he was united in marriage to the former Joyce Huska; she preceded him in death on October 24, 1982.  On November 2, 1991 in Rockford, IL he married the former Geneva Yount; she preceded him in death on April 2, 2001.  He worked for many years as a Captain with the Kane Security Company in Chicago, IL.  Robert was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, he enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, watching movies and he really enjoyed talking to people.
Robert is survived by: 7 children; Mary Joyce (the late Murray Brown) Flinn of Poolesville, MD, Carol (Mark) Ulrich of New London, WI, Robert (Judith) Flinn Jr. of Lake Geneva, WI, Donna (Michael) Johnson of Williams Bay, WI, Daniel (Mary) Flinn of DePere, WI, Diane Flinn of Pasadena, CA and Franklyn (Nancy) Flinn of San Diego, CA, 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Elmer and Franklyn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Friday January 24 at 2:30 p.m. at Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva; Father Jim Schuerman will officiate.  Burial will follow in Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday in church from 1:00 p.m. until time of services.  Memorials are requested in Robert’s name to: Wisconsin Veteran’s Home, 21425 E.
