Robert William Flemming, a cherished member of the Lake Geneva community and a man whose contributions echoed through every corner of the city he loved, passed away peacefully at his home on November 6, 2025. Born on September 17, 1926, in the enchanting surrounds of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Robert's life was a tapestry woven with dedication, service, and a profound love for his family and community.
His storied career is marked by his remarkable service as a member of the Lake Geneva Fire Department, where he earned the esteemed nickname "Admiral." His commitment to public service extended further as a reserve police officer for the Lake Geneva Police Department, where he humorously acquired the moniker "Barney Fife." His civic engagement flourished during his tenure on the City Council, where he served with distinction for over sixteen years. Throughout his time in local government, Robert was an unwavering advocate, participating actively on numerous committees that helped shape the future of the city he deeply cared for.
Robert's academic roots trace back to Lake Geneva High School, from which he graduated in 1944. He also served his country with honor in the United States Navy Reserve, a testament to his character and dedication to duty. Beyond his professional endeavors, Robert was a man of many passions. He found joy in fishing and photography, pursuits that allowed him to bask in the beauty of nature and capture moments in time. His spirited enthusiasm for the Green Bay Packers and stock car racing was well-known among friends, reflecting his vibrant personality and zest for life.
Amidst his many accomplishments, Robert cherished his family above all. He is survived by his two beloved children, Doug Flemming and Barbara (Phillip) Owens, and his three grandchildren, Dale, Zach, and Matthew Fischbach. Together, they carry forward his legacy of love, devotion, and service. Robert was preceded in death by the love of his life, Lois, in 1998, whose memory remained a guiding light throughout his life.
In honoring Robert William Flemming's memory, we invite all to gather for a Visitation with Family at the First Lutheran Church and School in Lake Geneva on November 13, 2025, beginning at 9:00 AM. This will be followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, culminating in a Graveside Service at Oak Hill Cemetery at 12:00 PM.
As we celebrate the life of this remarkable man, let us remember the impact he had on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Robert's contributions to his community, his passion for life, and his unwavering dedication to family will be cherished forever.
