Robert Francis Fesenmaier passed away in the late morning of Monday, December 1, 2025, at his home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
Bob was born in Elmwood, Wisconsin, on July 31, 1933. Raised in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Bob and his older brother, William Everett, would spend summers during the Depression on the family farm in Elmwood. Later, he would join the United States Marines and marry the love of his life, JoAnne Mae Hunt, in San Diego, before shipping out in1953 to serve in the Korean War with his brother. Upon returning stateside, Bob and JoAnne moved to Madison where he worked for the Wisconsin State Patrol. They moved to Lake Geneva falling in love with this part of Wisconsin. Bob began work for the Wisconsin Southern Gas Company, where he retired after 31 years.
Bob and Jo loved to travel to Tybee Island with much time spent by the ocean and meeting new friends. They were long-time members of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva. Next to playing golf and watching the Green Bay Packers, entertaining his grandchildren were his favorite pastimes. Bob loved to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and was always found fixing and winterizing furnaces or teaching friends and family how to pass their driver’s test (no one Bob mentored ever failed to receive their license). He loved to read on his porch, even until the end where he sat in his rocker watching the traffic along Highway 50 and enjoying the sunset on Hillmoor Golf Course.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Everett; brother, Bill; spouse, JoAnne; grandchildren, James Wollman and Sarah Wollman Freeland. He is survived by his loving son, Michael Robert; devoted daughter, Mary Jo; granddaughter, Rachel; grandson, Timothy; and seven great-grandchildren. Fez will be dearly missed for his smile, lifetime of service, generosity, and teasing sense of humor. May Perpetual Light Shine Upon Him.
