Richard James Ramstedt, born on August 19, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away on April 16, 2026, in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Richard was an advid golfer. He was a member at Geneva National for 20+ years. He would tell you without you asking how every put would break on every green! He was the founding member of the UP Club.(Clean-up, Dress-up, Show-up, and Shut-up). This was his joke on how to have a successful marriage. His son Jimmy called him the "Big-Fish" since there was no lack of stories to be told. He seemed to never run out them. Anyone who would listen, he would tell them!
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted companion of 34+ years, Donna Helms, whose steadfast presence was a source of comfort and joy during their time together. Donna was patient and the rock in their relationship for 34 years. Donna and Dad had a loving relationship. They both provided us with an amazing blended family and bonds that will last forever.
Richard's family and his grandkids were a central part of his life. He enjoyed going to and watching every ball game they had. Richard had 8 grandkids : Bobby, Paige, Zack, Quinn, Jake, Max, Ryan and Luke. Richard also had a son, Jim Ramstedt, daughter in law, Stacey, who he wondered out-loud, "why are you with him?", and two stepdaughters who he adored, Alison, and Aj.
Richard is also survived by his son Michael.
As we bid farewell to Richard James Ramstedt, we honor a changed man, who was always there with a "story" or helping hand. Thank you for all the stories that will live on in our memories. Rest in peace: Dad, Big Fish, President of the UP-Club & Grandpa Rich. It is time to rest, we will take it from here.
There are no formal services planned for Richard at this time.
