Richard Allen Payne, known affectionately as Dickie, passed away peacefully at his home on October 11, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on December 9, 1954, in the picturesque town of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Dickie's roots ran deep in the community that he cherished and profoundly influenced throughout his life.
A proud graduate of Badger High School in 1973, Dickie was known for his friendly demeanor and unwavering support of his neighbors. His professional journey began with early experiences as one of the first mail boat jumpers on Lake Geneva, followed by a devoted tenure with Gage Marine as a gas boy. Dickie also made his mark through Command Services, running a residential caretaking business that reflected his deep-seated desire to help his fellow community members.
Dickie's travels were marked by a joyful trip to Sweden in 2010 with the Brunks, a testament to his adventurous spirit and love for connecting with both local and international friends. His fondness for warm climates led him to the inviting shores of Florida, Arizona, and Hawaii. Yet, it was the tranquil waters of Lake Geneva that held his heart—a landscape he not only loved but served as a steadfast pillar within.
A soul who found joy in the simplest pleasures, Dickie was an avid golfer and boater, reveling in the unmatched beauty surrounding his beloved hometown. He was a dedicated fan of college sports, particularly the Wisconsin Badgers and Notre Dame, passions that anchored him further into the fabric of his community.
Survived by his loving family, including his sisters Mary Lynn Payne, Bridget Payne, Penny (Dennis) Mahmood, Kelly (Jeff) Payne-White, Courtney (George) Wadsworth-Klug, his brother Sean (Sharon) Payne, nieces and nephews Heather, Rayce, Shane, Bailey, Megan, and Will. He is also survived by many great nephews. Dickie will be remembered not only for his enduring spirit but also for the connections he nurtured as an adopted uncle to the Brunk children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Mary Jane (McElroy) Payne.
