Richard King Dallesasse

Richard Dallesasse, 88, of Mayville, WI passed away peacefully at home on January 6, 2025 with his family at his side.

Richard was born on September 5, 1936 in Milwaukee to Emil D. Dallesasse and Emeline J. (Hull) Dallesasse.  He grew up the son of a barber and enjoyed many adventures in Norway, MI with his many cousins.  As a child, Richard attended school at St. Leo’s Catholic Church School where his adventurous spirit didn’t always put him on the good side of the Sisters who were his teachers.  He was always a “hands-on” technical thinker and attended Boy’s Tech in Milwaukee before starting his apprenticeship to become an electrician. Richard was drafted by the US Army and worked in Greenland on Project Iceworm.

After leaving the service, Richard married Mary Donley on September 11, 1965 at St. Leo’s Parish in Milwaukee and they shared 57 years of marriage together until Mary’s passing in 2022.  In 1971 they were blessed with their first child, Scott and two years later their daughter, Jill.  During this time, Richard was introduced to the world of Retriever Field Trials, and the legend began.  In his life-time, he titled 12 dogs and was an inspiration and mentor to many in the retriever world. In 2023, he was inducted into the Retriever Field Trial Hall of Fame, an honor in which he was very proud.

Richard is survived by his children Scott (Wendy Stein) Dallesasse and Jill Dallesasse.  He is also survived by his grandson Lucas Dallesasse, his sister-in-law and brother-in law Marge and Jack Kurtzbein, and countless friends and relatives.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Donley) Dallesasse , his parents; Emil D. Dallesasse and Emeline J. (Hull) Dallesasse.  His in-laws,  Edward F. Donley and Doris C. (Sarow) Donley, his sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Leonard Kirchner, and his sister-in-law brother-in-law Walter and Donna Hagel.

Service for Richard will be held on Saturday January 25th, 2025 at 2:00pm in the main chapel of Derrick Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held from 12:00pm till the time of service.
