Reed Curtis Ridge, a man whose wit and warmth left lasting imprints on all who knew him, passed from this life on June 5, 2026, at his home. Born on May 29, 1946, in Oak Park, Illinois, Reed's journey through the tapestry of time was marked by devotion—to his family, his community, and his faith. With a personality that sparkled with humor and a touch of sarcasm, he was a beacon of joy and steadfastness to those fortunate enough to share in his presence.
Reed served his country with honor in the United States Army from May 1967 until May 1969, a period during which his character and commitment solidified. He was also deeply engaged in civic life as a dedicated member of the Woodstock City Council and a diligent participant on the Planning Commission, contributing his insights and leadership with grace and determination.
Reed earned his associate degree in Liberal Arts, where his passion for the theater blossomed. A natural performer and an eloquent public speaker, he delighted audiences with his talent and flair, attributes that underscored his identity as a man of both intellect and heart.
Reed’s love for life was manifested in a rich array of outdoor pursuits and leisure activities. He found joy and camaraderie in playing Corn hole and relished a good round of golf. Hunting, fishing, and camping were not mere hobbies but avenues through which he connected with nature and family. Indeed, road trips across the United States with his loved ones were cherished adventures, etching memories that will endure through generations.
At the heart of Reed's world was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Nancy, whose partnership was a source of strength and happiness. Together, they nurtured the lives of their two daughters, Rebecca (Wesley) Tonyan and Rachel Ridge, who carry forward his legacy. His seven grandchildren—Makaelyn, Faith(David), Isabella, Blake, Rylinn, Joel, and Levi—are a testament to the enduring bonds he so treasured.
Reed's passage is also mourned in the memory of those who preceded him: his two sons, Ryan and Nathan; his parents, William and Pearl; and his siblings—Francis, Mary, Dennis, William, James, Pat, Beatrice, and Martha—whose presence remains cherished in the lives he touched.
The community will gather in remembrance and celebration of Reed’s life on June 13, 2026, beginning with a visitation at Derrick Funeral Home & Cremation Services, located at 800 Park Drive, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life at the same venue from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The day will conclude with an inurnment and other commemorative observances at Oak Hill Cemetery, 1101 Cemetery Road, Lake Geneva, from 2:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Reed Curtis Ridge’s earthly journey, rich with laughter, love, and service, leaves a legacy as vibrant and resonant as the man himself. May his memory be not only a blessing but an inspiration to all who knew him.
