Paul Daniel Turnbaugh

Paul Daniel Turnbaugh, born on January 5, 1956, in Springfield, Illinois, passed away in Williams Bay, WI on September 21, 2026.

Paul attended the California College of the Arts 1975-1979 and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts as well as Art History. He was a professional illustrator for over 40 years and worked with many of America's premiere design firms, ad agencies, publishing houses and marketing firms. He illustrated hundreds of books including several current children's books on the market. 

Paul lived a life shaped by faith, art, music, photography, devotion, and the steady expression of his creative spirit. He spent his entire career as an artist, illustrator, and teacher, giving his working life wholly to the craft he loved. 

He taught art at Judson College in Elgin, IL and most recently was the art teacher at Faith Christian School in Williams Bay, WI. 

He loved music almost as much as painting and played in worship groups throughout his life. Photography of nature was a daily routine of Pauls and all who friended him on social media will miss his morning sunrise pictures. 

He will be remembered with deep love by his wife, Therese Turnbaugh. He is also survived by his son, Elliott Turnbaugh (Rachel), whose place in Paul’s family life brought him great pride. His memory will continue in the lives of his three grandchildren, Trinity, Marie, and Knox, who carry forward the joy of his family circle. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Turnbaugh (Barb), and his sister, Mary Turnbaugh.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Vivian (June) Turnbaugh.

Those who knew Paul will remember a man whose life was faithfully devoted to the work and identity of an artist, and whose presence remains cherished by those closest to him. May his memory bring comfort to his family and all who loved him.
