Paul F. Gavin Jr., 93, a lifelong resident of Linn Township, died Monday January 16, 2012 at Willowfield Nursing and Rehab Center in Delavan, WI.  Paul Francis Gavin was born in Linn Township on September 17, 1918 the son of the late Paul Francis and Blanche A. (Robinson) Gavin Sr.  He graduated from Lake Geneva High School in 1936.  He was a Veteran of World War II serving as a mechanic with the United States Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater of Operations.  On October 16, 1948 in Chicago, IL he was united in marriage to the former Louise Filiatreault; she preceded him in death on July 27, 2011.  He had been a carpenter all of his working life.  He was a member of Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva.  He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #1647 in Lake Geneva.  Paul is survived by: 4 sons; Patrick (Jo Ellen) Gavin of Delavan, WI, Paul (Jo) Gavin III of Geneva, IL, Kevin (Denise) Gavin of Smyrna, TX and Timothy (Christine) Gavin of Oakdale, MN, 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, a sister Sr. Florence Gavin of Sinsanawa, WI and a brother Peter Gavin of Peoria, IL.  He was preceded in death by: a daughter Ann Gavin, 2 brothers Tom and Robert Gavin and a sister Helena Gavin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said Saturday January 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church 148 Main St., Lake Geneva; Monsignor David Malloy will officiate.  Burial will follow in Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at church.  Derrick Funeral home in Lake Geneva is assisting the Gavin family with arrangements.  In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are requested in Paul’s name to: Saint Francis de Sales Catholic School.  To sign the on-line guest registry go to: derrickfuneralhome.com.
