On August 13, 2024, Michael C. Farrands, 82, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and beloved friend of many, passed away at his home in Lake Geneva, WI, surrounded by love and family.
Born to Joseph and Mary (Donahue) Farrands in Pawtucket, R.I., Michael was a proud New Englander who loved summers “down the beach” in Point Judith with his parents and older brother, Robert. He married his long-time high school sweetheart Roberta (Tougas) and soon grew their family with daughters, Susan and Christina. Some time after the devastating and untimely death of Roberta, friend and high school classmate, Carole (Firth) became his second partner in life, and they joyfully retired in Lake Tahoe, CA.
A caring man who helped others before himself, he served six years in the Army National Guard, worked as many jobs as it took to support his young family, and brought donuts, coffee, and a smile to his appointments. Integrity, humor and mentorship were the keystones to his long career in the automotive aftermarket. He ultimately became Vice President of Operations for a global automotive cooling company. He was “one of a kind” to many because of his generosity of self and time.
Michael loved spending time with his family on the shores of R.I. and sharing his many memories of high school sports and trove Yogi Berra quotes with his grandchildren, Christopher, Hannah, Michael, and Maggie. Nothing brightened his day more than hearing about their latest successes and adventures.
Michael will be missed. He is now at peace, yet his stories, spirit, love, and many witticisms like “Let’s expedite the fun” will be remembered and shared with his family’s generations to come.
