Margaret Josephine Williams (Smith) was born March 3,1925 and was ushered from sleep to glory July 24,2024.
She was born and lived her remarkable life in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. She was a staunch supporter of the Lake Geneva community, which she dearly loved. She contributed her time and resources to: The First Baptist Church and subsequent churches after the First Baptist disbanded; the Lake Geneva Library; Geneva Lake Museum; Black Point as a Docent and her love for history led her to the Questers. She made braided rugs and baskets by the hundreds and it was her delight to give them away. She was a retired teacher and spent many winters in Arizona where she loved riding her bike, attending many activities and classes and had many adventures like para sailing in Mexico, tandem skydiving and going to the Rose Parade New Year’s Day. She would say her years teaching and those spent in Arizona were highlights in her life. She celebrated her 80th birthday by swimming across the narrows of Lake Geneva which she repeated three more times. She was named Lake Geneva’s Outstanding Citizen of the year in 2019. She was preceded to heaven by her beloved husband (Ralph); brother (Ed) in Waco, Texas and her daughter (Susan). She leaves behind faithful daughter, Rhea (Guy), loving granddaughters, Rebecca and Sarah and many adoring friends…all will remember her with fondness and maybe a chuckle.
Her memorial service is Friday, August 2, at 1pm. It will be held at her church, Mt. Zion Christian Church of Lake Geneva.
