Lydia Polek, a long time resident of the Lake Geneva area and formerly of Evergreen Park, IL, passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 at Golden Years Retirement Village in Walworth, WI.
Mrs. Polek was born in Chicago, IL to Ben and Josephine Bohac. She married Bernard Polek, also of Chicago, in 1941. Mrs. Polek was a member of Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church where she helped count the Sunday collections in addition to volunteering with the Meals on Wheels program. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing twice a week up to the time of her passing.
Mrs. Polek was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Helen, and in 1989 by her beloved husband Bernard. She is survived by her 4 children; John (Carol), of Atlanta, GA, Jerry (Samantha), of Lake Geneva, WI, Barbara (Thomas) Kwiatkowski, of Lake Geneva, WI, Thomas (Marjun), of Mesa AZ, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
As per her wishes a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Angel Fund at Saint Francis de Sales Catholic School, 148 Main Street, Lake Geneva, WI 53147.
