Lillian I. Kimball, 104, a lifelong resident of Walworth County, died Monday April 16, 2012 at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn, WI. The former Lillian Ida Brellenthin was born in Geneva Township, WI on June 20, 1907 the daughter of the late Benard and Loena (Zwieg) Brellenthin. She was a graduate of Elkhorn High School in Elkhorn, WI. She married Louis P. Kimball on October 25, 1930 in Elkhorn, WI; he preceded her in death on January 26, 2008.
Lillian volunteered during World War II working with Women’s Volunteer Committee Armed Service Forces Headquarters 6th Service Command, Chicago, IL and the American Red Cross for 60 years. She was bloodmobile chairman for 7 years and the first council president of the Lake Geneva Girl Scouts and leader for Senior Girl Scouts. She was the first president of Hillmoor Country Club ladies 18 hole league. Was secretary of Christian Social Relations at the Methodist Church Milwaukee District and in Lake Geneva. In 1981 she was co-founder of the Emergency Clothes Closet located in the lower level of the parish hall which was recently named the Lillian Kimball Clothes Closet. She was President of Lake Geneva United Church Women and served on the original Lake Geneva Community Chest. She was responsible for the first Girl Scout Brownie Day Camp which was held on the late Walter Reindel property south of Lake Como. She was a charter member of Tau Kappa Rho a local social sorority. In 1981 she was chairperson for memorial records and history of the Methodist Church.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: 6 brothers; John, Alvin, Bill, George, Harold and Ray Brellenthin, 5 sisters; Anna Brellenthin, Clara Bublitz, Florence Gray, Edna Nichols and Lena Yakes.
A Celebration of Lillian’s Life will be held on Wednesday June 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lake Geneva United Methodist Church 912 Geneva St. Lake Geneva, WI; Rev. Keith Aurand will officiate. Lillian's family will receive visitors Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
