Lawrence G. Banovez, 63, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at his Lake Geneva home after a hard-fought battle with ADLD.
Larry was born, raised, and spent most of his life in Kenosha. It was there he met Lynn (Otwaska), of Racine, who he married on April 23, 1977. A devoted father, he coached his son’s little league teams to victory and through the years, former players have continued to greet him fondly as “Coach”. He worked as an engineer with Abbott Labs, Carter-Hoffman in Mundelein, Illinois, and Prince Castle in Carol Stream, Illinois. He holds a number of patents and became a Certified Food Service Professional (CFSP), the pinnacle of his industry.
Larry will be remembered for his infectious laughter, his unique sense of humor, and above all the deep love he had for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Lynn, his children Tiara (Adrian) Agresta of Brookfield, Illinois, and Bryatt (Holly) Banovez of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, and his cherished granddaughter, Calista. Waiting for him in heaven are his parents Lawrence F. and Dorothy Banovez, his brothers, Leo and Lenny, and his father-in-law, Jim Otwaska.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 29 at Trinity Lutheran Church, W775 Geranium Rd, Genoa City, WI. Visitation begins at 11 am with service at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Larry’s name be made to the Medical College of Wisconsin Palliative Care Center, who will be conducting research into Autosomal Dominant Leukodystrophy (ADLD).
