Kurt Edward Stier

Sep 28, 1944 — Jun 24, 2026

Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

Kurt Edward Stier passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, devotion, and warmth that will long endure among all who had the good fortune to know him. Born on September 28, 1944, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, Kurt’s journey through life was one marked by steadfast love for family and an unwavering commitment to those he cherished.

Kurt’s story began amid the bustling streets and proud neighborhoods of Chicago, in a home shaped by the guidance of his beloved parents, Paul and Louise (Staudinger)Stier, both of whom preceded him in death. It was here, among the bonds of his early family, that the values he would carry throughout his life first took root—kindness, generosity, and quiet strength.

Throughout his eighty-one years, Kurt built a life filled with deep relationships and shared experiences. His life was defined not merely by the places he traveled or the years he numbered, but by the people with whom he shared it. His loving wife, Linda (Weidner) Stier, stood by his side, their partnership a testament to enduring love and mutual respect. His daughter, Pamela Stier, and his step-daughter, Renee (Stan) Livingston, were sources of profound joy and pride, enriching Kurt’s days with laughter, memories, and the special warmth that only children can bring.

Family was Kurt’s guiding star, and his impact as a father was further magnified in the next generation. As a grandfather to Kurt Ramirez, Riley (Basileios) Demco, Casey Summers, and Wyatt Summers, he inspired those close to him through wisdom warmly imparted and unconditional support that will forever echo in their hearts. He is survived by his sisters Carol Cossitt, and Eileen (Mark) Southwick, brother Paul (Carolyn) Stier, and many nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his son, Jason Stier.

Kurt’s life was one of purpose, built upon the foundation laid by his parents and carried forward through his commitment to loved ones. He approached each day with quiet dignity, offering guidance and encouragement when it was needed most, and sharing in life’s celebrations and sorrows alike. Those fortunate enough to call Kurt a friend or family member will not soon forget his sincerity, his ready smile, and his steadfast devotion. He was generous, humble and kind.  His hobbies included working on antique cars, cooking, traveling, fishing and caring for his bonsai trees.  He loved to host parties and was often the life of the party.

As family and friends gather to honor his extraordinary life, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Though he is no longer present in body, the legacy of Kurt Edward Stier lives on—a testament to a life well-lived, a heart well-loved, and a man deeply missed.  Heaven has gained another angel.
