The Reverend Doctor Kazuo A. “Andy” Takaya, 86, of Lake Geneva, WI, entered eternal life on Saturday July 27, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Janesville, WI. Kazuo Andrew Takaya was born April 21, 1927 in Tochigi, Japan. He emigrated to the United States to study for the Christian ministry. He served pastorates in Chicago, IL, Honolulu, HI and Lake Geneva, WI, followed by a six year term as a volunteer missionary in Japan.
He is survived by: his wife Kathleen, 2 children; Tamiko M. (Christopher) Takaya-Hunt of Fort Wayne IN, a son Bunji M. Takaya of Glenville, GA, a stepson Charles (Betty) Armstrong of Chicago, IL, 6 grandchildren; Serena Takaya Jacob and Jacy Furuto, and Michael, Valerie and Daniel Armstrong, and a sister Tama (Takeshi) Otsuka and many nieces and nephews in Japan. He was preceded in death by his first wife Maryann and 5 brothers and sisters.
He lived out his earthly life by visiting family and friends in Japan and by proclaiming Gods word from 2 pulpits while there.
A Celebration of Andy’s life will be held on Saturday August 17, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at the First Congregational United of Christ, 715 Wisconsin St. in Lake Geneva; Reverend Gary Hougen will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday the 17th from 1:00 p.m. until time of services. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are requested to a charity of choice.
