Katherine T. (Ross) Ross

Katherine T. Ross, 84, a native of Lake Geneva, died Tuesday January 6, 2015 at her home in Chicago.  Katherine Therese Ross was born in Chicago, IL on July 13, 1930 the daughter of the late James M. and Hannah P. (Lehane) Ross.  She graduated from Lake Geneva High School, with honors, in 1948.  In 1988 she earned a B.A. at Roosevelt University.  In 1992 she received a four year certificate from the University Of Chicago Basic Program Of Liberal Education for Adults. She also took two-week classes at Oxford University in 1992 and 1994.  From 1962 until 1968 she worked for the Republican Central Committee of Cook County as the personal assistant to Chairman Timothy P. Sheehan.  She worked as campaign secretary and legislative secretary for Philip M. Crane, a member of Congress from Illinois, from 1969 until 1975.  From 1975 to 1978 she was a legal secretary for Gould and Ratner in Chicago.   From 1978 until 1974 she was the administrative assistant to Commissioner Mary McDonald a member of the Cook County Board of Commissioners.
She was a member of Field Museum of Natural History, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Chicago School of Architecture Foundation, The Society of Architectural Historians, Chicago Chapter, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Lyric Opera.
Katherine is survived by nieces and nephews; Steven Richard, Virginia Ann, Brian, Cynthia, Linda, William, Edward, Susan, and Tom, and many grand-nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services for Katherine will be held on Wednesday January 14, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of the Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.  To sign the on-line guest registry click view/sign condolence book at the bottom of this page.
