June K. (Delap) Yakes

June K. Yakes, 94, of Delavan, WI, died Wednesday December 31, 2014 at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn, WI. The former June Katherine Delap was born in Lake Geneva, WI on June 21, 1920 the daughter of the late Chester and Clara (Gersdorf) Delap. She was a graduate of Williams Bay High School. On October 7, 1939 in Dubuque, IA she was united in marriage to Raymond C. Yakes; he preceded her in death on March 6, 2010. June had worked for several years as a nurse’s aide at Lakeland Nursing Home in Elkhorn, WI.
June is survived by: 4 sons; Norman (Pat) Yakes of Dade City, FL, Richard (Roxanne) Yakes of Elkhorn, WI, Thomas (Dixie) Yakes of Delavan, WI and Douglas (Amy) Yakes of Lena, WI, 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Greg Thibadeau, 2 brothers Norman and Palmer Delap and a sister Emma Lou Ells.
Services for June will be held on Saturday January 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 416 Geneva St., Delavan, WI; Pastor Robert P. Rickman will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. Memorial remembrances may be made in June’s name to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
