Judith Ann (Bollweg) Russell

Judy Russell, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on March 18th at Alto Memory Care in Grayslake, IL surrounded by loved ones. She was 84.

Judy was born on Good Friday, March 22, 1940 in Wheaton, IL to Herman and Eva Bollweg. She moved to Lake Geneva at the age of 2. Judy graduated from Badger High School in 1958. After high school, she met Robert Russell, Sr., also from Lake Geneva, and were married on June 18, 1960 at St. Francis DeSales. Together they had a family and shared 63 years of companionship until his death in 2023. They travelled extensively on planes, automobiles and a motorcycle. Throughout her life they lived in Illinois, Pennsylvania and Connecticut, returning to Lake Geneva in 1992 where she lived until 2024. Judy was a devoted mother to her two sons, Bob and Tom, who will continue to honor her memory.

Judy was most passionate when talking about her grandchildren and their activities. During her life she selflessly took care of many including her husband, mother, sister and younger brother when they most needed care. Her Catholic faith was important to her as was serving others. At St. Francis DeSales, she belonged to the Altar Society, regularly attended Adoration and helped often with the Funeral Luncheon ministry.

Judy is survived by her sons Bob (Amy) and Tom (Carrie) along with 5 grandchildren; Ann Hanrahan (Sam), Joe, Jack, Matt and Jimmy and a brother David Bollweg. In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by two sisters, Bunny Barrett, Marcie Douglass, and brother Charlie Bollweg.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 3rd at 11:00am at St. Francis DeSales. Visitation will begin at 10:00am. The Rite of Committal and Burial will follow. There will be a luncheon afterwards at the Church. All are invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org in her honor.

Judy will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her in return.
