Joyce Ann (Ward) Popera

Joyce A. Popera, 73, of the Lake Geneva area passed away on January 22, 2025, at Aurora Summit hospital.

Joyce was born on June 19th, 1951, to the late Wendell and Barbara (Yuth) Ward in Waukegan, Illinois.  In Lake Zurich, Illinois in 1981 Joyce was united into marriage to the late Thaddeus Popera II .  He proceeded her in death in September of 2008.

Joyce was an avid church goer and there wasn’t one within the area that she did not visit.  Joyce was a member of the Lioness club of Delavan, Wisconsin.  When Joyce wasn’t at church you could find her on a sunny day out in her garden, doing crafts, or crocheting.

Joyce is survived by her five children: Lisa (Chris) Grode, Derek (Linda) Estes, Sarah (Brandon) Murray, Ted Popera III, and Barbara (Paul) Popera, and Five grandchildren: Maddie, Micky, Max, Russell, Raymond and Penny along with her siblings Wenda (Ken), Janice (Dennis) and Russell (Marsha).

Services for Joyce will be held on Saturday February 1st, 2025, at 2:00pm in the main chapel of Derrick Funeral Home.  A gathering of family and friends will start at 12:00pm the day of the service.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family has asked that you donate in Joyce’s name to the Walworth County Food and Diaper Bank .
