John Kent Stuckey

February 1, 1947 — September 30, 2023

John was born in Decatur, IN on Feb 1, 1947 to Maynard and Bernice (Luginbill) Stuckey. He had an older brother, Randall, and a younger sister Debby (Stuckey) Bohnke. During his high school years in Berne, Indiana, his varied extracurricular activities show just how well rounded he was as individual, whether while he was on the football field, in the high school band or the high school choir. He also formed a rock band with a few of his friends during his off time, where he played guitar.  After high school, he attended Purdue University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, which was, at that time, one of the first years the degree was offered. He moved around the country with a variety of jobs in management for computer science divisions, in fields ranging from the automotive industry to supervising tech support for a multinational company, which included multiple site visits to Europe and Asia. His first wife was Sally (Schindler) Stuckey, with whom he had three children, Julie, Jennifer and Ben, and he spent the past 26 years married to Christiane, whom he often described as the love of his life and his soul mate. Together, they shared homes in Round Lake, IL and Lake Geneva, WI—ones that were filled with lots of light, plenty of artwork from the trips and local artists and a variety of animals from the birds and little creatures outside to their beloved dogs. He was known for his love of woodworking, his excellent pool skills, his music and his breadth of knowledge when it came to home repairs. He was an incredibly kind and gentle soul, who found beauty in a variety the everyday pleasures—flowers from the farmer’s market, the birds enjoying the birdbath, the cranes and wild turkeys in the backyard and the wildlife all around him.

He is survived by his wife, Christiane, his sister, Debby (Eric) Bohnke and their son Dane, his daughter Julie (Brian) Barden and their children Ethan Barden and Mollie (Barden) Duerr, his daughter Jennifer (Dave) Deffenbaugh and their son Jack, and his son Ben (Jess) and their children Will and Claire. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
