John C. Churchill, 86, a lifelong resident of the Lake Geneva area, died Saturday February 16, 2013 at his home. John Clayton Churchill was born in Walworth, WI on May 10, 1926 the son of the late Ira and Velma (Seidler) Churchill. He graduated from Walworth High School in 1944. On June 21, 1952 in Lake Geneva, WI he was united in marriage to the former Helene Curran. He was a Veteran of World War II serving with the United States Army in the European Theater in France and Germany. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
John was a member of Frank Kresen American Legion Post #24. He was a talented woodworker making furniture and carving birds and fish. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as traveling and walking with his wife.
He is survived by: Helene, his wife of 60 years, a daughter Mary Churchill of Lake Geneva, a sister Joanne (Patrick) Coleman of Elkhorn, WI and a brother James (Ruth) Churchill of Sun Prairie, WI.
The Churchill family will celebrate John’s life on Thursday February 21, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of Derrick Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lake Geneva with Military Rites at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are suggested in John’s name to: Aurora V.N.A.
