Jean Ann Dewey, 96, formerly of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, passed into the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 26, 2023 while in hospice after battling throat cancer.
Born on March 29, 1927, to her parents, Paul and Marie Yerke, Jean grew up on her parents' farm in Mukwonago, Wisconsin and married Dale Dewey
in November, 1949. Together, they owned and operated Mukwonago Greenhouse until 1962 followed by the Lake Geneva Florist and Greenhouse. Her husband, Dale, passed away at age 51 on November 2, 1973, and she then continued operating the greenhouse until selling it in 1976.
Jean moved to Miami, Florida in 1984 and lived with her son Scott until 2006, when she then moved to Marquette, Michigan until 2018, and returned to Florida to live with her son once again in Clearwater.
She was loved by all and enjoyed playing Scrabble over the years and daily listening to the Kuhner Report radio broadcast out of Boston. She loved to laugh, took great joy in rescuing and raising many cats and dogs, and loved to travel in her retirement years, traveling fifteen times to the Hawaiian Islands, a trip to French Polynesia, London, Austria, Switzerland, many islands in the Caribbean, and throughout the United States from San Diego to Maine, Alaska to Key West, and destinations in between.
Her most favorite travels were while cruising thirteen times with several family members and friends, highlighted by three Alaskan cruises and one in the Hawaiian Islands.
Jean is survived by her son Scott, daughter Jackie (Paul) Tahtinen, grandchildren: Heather (Bill) Loughman, and Paul (Alex) Tahtinen, and two great grandchildren, Hudson and Laina Tahtinen. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale, and three sisters (Ina, Fay, and Catherine) and a brother (Bud).
