Janis A. (Tripp) Millington

July 13, 1940 — August 1, 2025

Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

Janis Ann Millington (Tripp) of Wildwood FL and formerly Saratoga Springs NY and Argyle NY passed away peacefully after her courageous battle with breast cancer on Friday, August 1st 2025 at Golden Years in Lake Geneva, WI; she was 85.

Born July 13th 1940, in Hampton, NY, she was the daughter of the late Neil D. and Edith (Durkee) Tripp. Janis attended Argyle Central School and graduated with the class of 1958. Janis grew up as a communicant of the Argyle United Methodist Church with her family.  She married George Millington in 1973 and in 1996 they retired from Saratoga Springs, NY to Wildwood, Fl.  They were married 43 years until he passed away in October 2016.

Janis was an accomplished baker and took much joy in sharing her many treats with family and friends.  She and George traveled immensely and she was proud to have visited all 50 states and many international countries. She was an avid reader, loved gardening and video poker and enjoyed the outdoors.  She had a special place for animals and would adopt and care for any that needed love and attention.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, George Millington; her brothers, William (Bill) Tripp and his wife Eleanor; Richard Tripp; her sisters Betty LaMere and her husband Ken; Evelyn Layhee and her husband Wallace, Marie Henry and her husband Jack and her brother in law, Melvin Tefft.  Left to cherish her memory include her sister Charlotte Tefft of Ballston Spa, NY and daughter Jessica Powell and her husband Bryan of Evanston, IL.  Grandchildren Emma, Madeline and Oliver. Many nieces, nephews, extended family members and close friends.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to her neighbors and friends for their love and support and to her caregivers who provided comfort and compassion to Janis over the last several months.

A private service will be held August 22nd with burial at the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Argyle, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or your local Humane Society in her honor.
