Irene L. (Shirkey) Giles

Irene L. Giles, 91, of Bayside, WI formerly of Lake Geneva, WI, died Friday June 15, 2012 at Homestead Ridge in Bayside.  The former Irene Louise Shirkey was born in Avoca, MI on December 15, 1920 the daughter of the late George and Eva (Ancel) Shirkey.  She graduated from Augres High School in 1938.  She was a Veteran of World War II serving with the United States Navy Waves.  On April 13, 1945 in Jacksonville, FL she was united in marriage to William J. Giles; he preceded her in death on February 27, 2002.  She worked for many years as an assembler for Klockit Company in Lake Geneva.
Irene is survived by: Barbara (Michael) Goulee of Milwaukee, WI, Janet (Sam) Hallyburton of Eugene, OR, Edward “Ned” (Lynne) Giles of Iowa City, IA and Mary Giles of Bend, OR, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters; Dorothy Vasquez, Marcella Beardsley, Geraldine Goheen and Donna Nowak.  She was preceded in death by a brother George Shirkey and a sister Joanne Dufort.
