Irene (Demkowicz) Kavanaugh

Irene Kavanaugh, 90, of Lake Geneva, WI and Fort Myers, FL, died Sunday January 24, 2016 at Hope Hospice Healthpark in Fort Myers. The former Irene Demkowicz was born April 9, 1925 in Chicago, IL the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Burdiak) Demkowicz.  She graduated from Fenger High School in Chicago in 1943 and then from Stenotype Business College in Chicago. On January 27, 1951 in Grays Lake, IL she was united in marriage to Daniel F. Kavanaugh; he preceded her in death on August 26, 2013.  She and Dan owned and operated Kavanaugh Realty in Lake Geneva for many years.  Irene enjoyed shopping, reading, going to a casino, playing cards, cooking and traveling.  Irene is survived by: 2 children; Maureen A. Parker of Bloomington, IL and Patrick M. Kavanaugh of Milwaukee, WI, 3 grandchildren; Sean, Michael, and Brian and a great-grandchild Sage.  She was preceded in death by; her parents, and 2 sisters: Eleanor Prepura and Mary Elia.

Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Saturday January 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Francis deSales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva; Father Jim Scheurman will officiate.  Burial will follow in Saint Kilian Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are requested in Irene's name to: Hope Hospice, 9470 Heallthpark Circle, Fort Myers, FL  33908.
