Harriet J. Unger, 91, a longtime resident of the Lake Geneva area died Wednesday May 30, 2012 at Lakeland Health Care Center in Elkhorn, WI. The former Harriet Jane Ackerly was born in Chicago, IL on October 6, 1920 the daughter of the late Milton and Anna Ackerley. She graduated from high school in Chicago, IL. She was an avid reader and spent many happy hours at the Lake Geneva Public Library. She enjoyed ballroom dancing to the music of big bands such as the Glen Miller Band.
Harriet is survived by: her Son John (Linda) Unger of Lake Geneva, 2 granddaughters; Abigail (Dan) Nor and Stephanie Unger and a great-granddaughter Ava Nor.
A Celebration of Harriet’s life will be held on Friday June 8, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Derrick Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 800 Park Dr. in Lake Geneva. The Unger family will receive visitors Friday from 5:00 p.m. until time of services. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are requested in Harriet’s name to the Lake Geneva Public Library to buy children’s books.
