Gwendolyn J. Sweeney, 93, of Williams Bay died on Saturday May 9th, 2015.
Born Gwendolyn Jane O’Conor to the late John and Mary Ellen (nee: Hayes) O’Conor in Chicago, Illinois. On February 19th, 1922. On October 7th, 1940 she was united into marriage to the late John Patrick Sweeney in Chicago, Illinois.
Gwendolyn resided most of her life in Chicago and then spent many years in California.
For part of her life Gwendolyn was in the Entertainment industry and worked as a model and a dancer but all of her life she was a devoted mother and wife.
Gwendolyn is survived by her 3 children: Joyce (Bill) Hardie of Laguna Niguel, CA., Jayne (Bob) Hoffman of Lake Geneva, WI., and John Jr. (Jessica) Sweeney of Harvard, Il. 6 Grandchildren survive Gwendolyn: Billy, Julie, Brad, Jill, John Patrick and Sean. 4 great-grandchildren survive Gwendolyn: Hanna, Sydney, Brooke, and Mara.
Services for Gwendolyn will be held on Friday May 22nd, 2015 at 11:00am at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva, WI; Father Jim Schuerman will be presiding. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service at the church.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family has asked that you make a donation in Gwendolyn’s name to: National Alliance for Mental Illness, the Wounded Warrior Project, and the American Cancer Society. Links have been provided below for your convenience.
